Amgen Histologist/pathologist in Shanghai, China

We are looking for an experienced self-motivated, creative, and independent pathologist and immunohistochemist to join comparative biology and drug evaluations in Amgen Asia R&D center located in Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park, Shanghai. The ideal candidate will have medical background with specialization in pathology, hands-on experience in molecular localization (immunohistochemistry and in-situ hybridization), and expertise in cardiovascular and oncology. S/he will collaborate with other scientists in the R&D center as well as global Amgen colleagues to deliver data packages for target identification and drug candidate selection in collaboration with local and global project teams. S/he will also help to design and lead studies to assess safety and tolerability of therapeutic intervention for cardiovascular diseases and oncology. The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced and highly matrixed local and global environment. Major accountabilities: 1. Function as pathology representative and subject matter expert as needed, in drug discovery project teams from project start to candidate selection, to provide pathology and toxicology expertise as well as guidance as drug discovery expert. Plan for, coordinate and supervise internal and external resources of the evaluation of tissue distribution of therapeutic targets and tissue cross reactivity (TCR) studies for biotherapeutics.

  1. Develop and implement immunohistochemical assays for the characterization of therapeutic target distribution in normal and pathological tissues between humans and toxicology relevant species. Analyze and communicate data/results to project teams and senior leadership.

  2. Provide expertise to initial target safety assessment, help to develop strategies for preclinical testing, and analysis plans for histopathology and molecular pathology in investigative studies.

  3. Actively collaborate with internal and external groups and service providers including identification and evaluation of CROs for pathology efforts as required to accelerate delivery of program milestones.

  4. Provide technical expertise across functions/teams. Help to train, supervise, and mentor junior staff as needed.
