Amgen R&D Finance Sr Manager (m/f) in Munich, Germany

Responsibilities:

Business Partnering & FP&ADrive the yearly budget process for the site. Understand orientations from Global R&D Finance, interact with budget owners to define budget proposal

Plan Operating Expenses of the entity (yearly budget & quarterly reforecasts)

Prepare quarterly Act vs. FCST report and review variances with budget owners

Partner with Budget owners (budget monitoring, robust & objective financial analysis with interpretation and recommendations, identify derailment risks, find solutions)

Budget proposals and presentations to Global R&D Finance

Quarterly LE for budget owners and Global R&D Finance

Interact with Site head on site related aspects

Quarterly preparation and monitoring of partnership invoicing

Coordinate impairment review processes with Corporate Accounting

Month- and year-end closing

ControllingPartner with Accounting Senior Manager on German GAAP P&L monitoring

Ensure timely & accurate execution of all accounting and financial tasks

Coordinate preparation of annual management report for statutory accounts and annual external audit

Coordinate potential tax audits (including supervision of tax consultants)

Ensure implementation and adherence to corporate and EU guidelines, application of financial management policies and adequate internal control level of the entity, coordinate internal control assessments and internal audits

Response to Audits/Controls from internal/external entities

Finance Site LeadershipReview and approve payroll

Interact with internal stakeholders

Contribute to overall site-related matters

Point of contact for R&D Finance in EU, act as a link between EU-based people and US R&D Finance

Interact with deCODE and China R&D on budget related question

Ad-hoc R&D projects and report analysis on financial projects

Develop and motivate staff

Requirements: University degree in Economics, Finance or Business Administration, preferably MBA from leading school; or CPA plus relevant 10 years PQE

At least 10 years aggregate experience in different managerial functions within Finance, preferably more than 5 years in managerial and/or team leadership position

At least 5 years in Financial Planning and Analysis

Biotech / pharma industry / R&D pharma experience

Work experience in an international, especially US matrixed environment

Excellent general business knowledge (e.g., industry, finance) as well as German business knowledge (German GAAP, German taxes, German applicable laws); ideally proven experience with US GAAP

The preferred candidate has previous audit experience (internal or external)

Expert in Excel (including modelling), good skills in PowerPoint, experience with ERP (ideally SAP) and with Planning & Reporting solutions (ideally Oracle Hyperion)

Excellent German language skills are a must, bilingual in English (both oral and written communication)
