What you will do

In this vital role you will collaboration with cross-functional partners for the Gout Therapeutic Area and aligned with product strategy, the Scientific Communications Sr Manager, Gout - Rare Disease is accountable for a broad scope of responsibilities, including:

  • Developing and handling high-quality strategic plans and innovative scientific and medical content (including publications, global medical content [GMC], payer-relevant content, compendia, OUS educational events, congress support) to communicate Amgen science in alignment with product strategy for Global and US

  • Understand sources of inputs across functions and local affiliates incorporating insights to drive/influence the development of a value and impact-driven Scientific Communication Plan

  • Developing publication plan and publication-related deliverables (manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and enhanced content)

  • Ensuring compliance with publication SOPs, GPP, ICMJE standards

  • Contributing to medical strategies through scientific expertise and defining appropriate, relevant, and innovative channels for delivery of medical and scientific content to reach target audiences

  • Addressing Medical Information inquiries/critical issues

  • Maintaining positive relationships with Medical Strategy & Operations in support of standardization of processes, optimizing systems, and furthering continuous improvement and innovation, including use of digital and multi-channel approaches, as well as definition of impactful of critical metrics

  • Supervising the work of vendors and potential training and/or supervision of junior staff

Basic Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree & 2 years of Medical/Scientific Affairs experience

Or

  • Master’s degree & 6 years of Medical/Scientific Affairs experience

Or

  • Bachelor’s degree & 8 years of Medical/Scientific Affairs experience

Or

  • Associates degree & 10 years of Medical/Scientific Affairs experience

Or

  • High school diploma / GED & 12 years of Medical/Scientific Affairs experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MD, PharmD, PhD, or DO with expertise in clinical research, patient care, Clinical Development, Medical/Scientific Affairs, and/or basic research highly preferred

  • Prior experience in Medical/Scientific Affairs or Clinical Development within the biopharmaceutical industry, and/or clinical or research in the therapeutic area

  • An understanding of the pharmaceutical commercialization process and knowledge of the regulatory and legal guidelines affecting promotion of prescription products

  • Experience in publication planning, publications guidelines and transparency standards (e.g., ICMJE, current Good Publication Practice Guidelines [GPP])

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Understanding of disease area and landscape and clinical data to enable critical analysis of scientific literature and communicate implications cross-functionally

  • Prior experience of effectively leading consultants and vendors

  • Strong computer and database skills, particularly with Microsoft Office products

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is $146,984.00 to $179,944.00. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
