Amgen Undergrad Co-op - Medicinal Chemistry in Cambridge, Massachusetts

The role of Amgen's Medicinal Chemistry Department is to leverage organic synthesis to deliver safe, efficacious, and novel small-molecule drug candidates for clinical evaluation. This Undergraduate Co-op role will work for 6 months as part the Medicinal Chemistry Department at our Research and Development facilities in Cambridge MA (AMA). This role will involve executing, problem-solving and developing chemical reactions, routes and/or methodologies focused on deliverying small molecules of synthetic and biological interest. The Co-op will learn principles of the drug discovery process with a focus on synthetic techniques necessary to deliver targets of interest while working closely with a research mentor. The Co-op will have an opportunity to interact with scientists across the organization and potentially publish their work in an appropriate journal. Relocation in the form of a transportation allowance will be provided for eligible candidates.

Basic Qualifications

Amgen requires that all individuals applying for an undergraduate internship or an undergraduate co-op

assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:

18 years or older

Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree program from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent

Completion of one year of study from an accredited college or university prior to the internship commencing

Enrolled in a full time Bachelor's program following the potential internship or co-op assignment with an accredited college or university

Must not be employed at the time the internship starts

Preferred Qualifications

Degree concentration in Biochemistry or Chemistry, with a focus or interest in organic synthesis
